煙草在線據(jù)《布里斯托爾郵報》報道編譯　　英國西布里斯托爾的眾議員史蒂芬·威廉姆斯，被世界衛(wèi)生組織任命為煙草控制工作的“杰出貢獻者”。

　　6月5日，這名自由民主黨議員參加了在眾議院舉行的頒獎儀式，并接受同樣也支持他的平裝卷煙計劃的英國公共衛(wèi)生部長Anna Soubry的祝賀。

　　煙草施壓組織吸煙與健康行動組織和無煙西南組織提名威廉姆斯先生作為該項大獎的候選人，表彰其自2005年當選國會議員以來倡導煙草控制做出的貢獻，包括在說服聯(lián)合政府推行煙草產(chǎn)品平裝的行動中發(fā)揮的主導作用。

　　威廉姆斯先生說，得到認可，他感到“極其高興”。

UK: Tobacco battle earns MP world health award

　　BRISTOL West MP Stephen Williams has been named an "outstanding contributor" to tobacco control by the World Health Organisation.

　　The Liberal Democrat attended an award ceremony in the House of Commons yesterday where he was congratulated by Public Health Minister Anna Soubry, who also backed his campaign for plain packaging for cigarettes.

　　Mr Williams was nominated for the award by pressure groups Action on Smoking and Health and Smokefree Southwest in recognition of his advocacy for tobacco control since his election to Parliament in 2005, which includes playing a leading role in the campaign to persuade the Coalition government to introduce plain packaging of tobacco products.

　　Mr Williams said he was "absolutely delighted" to be recognised.
